Satyam Yoga - Creative Chakra Connections

Are you fascinated by the chakras but do not seem able to connect to them other than in the abstract?

"Creative Chakra Connections", run by Sue Staziker and Cathie Shuster brings a whole new level of understanding to the system. With its fusion of yoga, sounding, meditation, art and pair work, it subtly and gently brings us into awareness of each level, both within the body but also the heart space.

As a teacher I have found the days personally transforming and also a wonderful resource for my own classes. As they have been held at monthly intervals, there has been time to focus and work on each chakra independently before moving on to the next one.

Sue and Cathie, who are both Satvik Yoga practitioners, are experienced and sensitive in their approach. The course is beautifully prepared and allows everybody space to develop their own relationship to the chakras.

“Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow.”    Douglas Pagels

Mulhadhara Chakra (root chakra). Our roots link us to the element of earth and enable us to feel safe and secure.  Problems with this chakra may manifest as insecurity, an inability to say NO, fear of change, an inability to stay with a task long enough to complete it, constipation, sciatica, hip, knee and foot challenges and issues around weight.
Our focus will be:
'Your body is the journey and it is where you begin . . . . .’
'You are the ground on which all things rest.  You are the earth from which all things grow.  You are here, you are solid, you are alive.  You are the point from which all things begin.'

The colours associated with this chakra are red, brown, deep mauve and softer, deep rose colours.
We will celebrate our connection with the earth and explore ways in which we can feel safe, strong and still.  Taking care of your needs in order to survive is an important aspect of being here.  When we talk about ‘grounding’ we are referring to the process of plugging ourselves into the earth and the world around us, completing the circuit that makes us a channel for the great diversity of life energies within and around us.

Swadisthana chakra. (Sacral Chakra) is connected to the element of water.  This chakra is about moving into our ability to grow and go with the flow of life.  It is located in the lower abdomen, the genitals and the womb and also affects the kidneys, the bladder and the circulatory system.  This Chakra is about experiencing change. .  . . . . . . If you feel ‘stuck’ in any part of your life then this is the chakra for you.  ‘You are alive, nothing within you is truly still’ . . . . . ‘your heart beats, your blood pulsates, a river of life connects each and every cell within you’. . . . ‘Every sound, every ray of light, every breath is an oscillation within you’ . . . . ‘A flow of constant change’ . . . . .
We look forward to dipping our toes (or perhaps even diving into) the waters of the second chakra with you. The colours associated with the sacral chakra are orange, amber and gold and the element is water.

Manipura Chakra - City of Gems!   Solar Plexus chakra is the fire chakra.
This chakra affects the digestive system, muscles, the pancreas and the adrenals.
If you feel 'sluggish' or uninspired, if you want to find your direction and increase your self esteem, then this is the chakra for you!
‘You are now a vital intersection of energy, merging, combining exploding, radiating. Expand your awareness without and within, weaving a web of power, like a fire growing higher and brighter.  Power flows within you, effortlessly, easily, calmly.  You are one with the powers within and around you.’
This centre is about will, empowerment, laughter, breaking inertia, assertiveness and finding a sense of purpose.  The colours associated with this chakra are yellow, gold and rose and the element is fire.

The ANAHATA CHAKRA (Heart Chakra) is always popular and not to be missed. We will be focusing on the lungs, heart, arms and hands which is particularly beneficial for heart problems, grief and breathing conditions such as asthma. We will explore breath, equilibrium, love, compassion, joy . . . . .
'For what does your heart cry?  For what does it long? In what does it find peace? Release its hopes and dreams to fly upon the wings of change and then return on wings of love, fulfilled beyond your dreams.'
The colours associated with the heart chakra are GREEN and PINK and the element is air.

Vishuddi Chakra (The throat) is about expression, communication and taking responsibility. It affects the throat, the thyroid and parathyroid and the voice. Are you are reluctant to express your truth or over talkative?  How do you hear the world?  How does the world hear you?
Breathe deeply, but slowly so the breath is silent in your lungs. . . ‘Listen deep within yourself for the place of stillness. . . . In the beginning the great unmanifest became vibration in its own recognition of being. . . If you listen you can hear it now. It is in your breath, it is in your heart, it is in the wind, the waters, the trees and the sky.  It is in your own mind, in the rhythm of each and every thought.’
The colours associated with the throat are blue and silver.

Ajna Chakra (The Brow) is where we connect with our true self at a deeper level to create more balance and harmony in our lives. The brow chakra is associated with the pineal gland which is known to be light sensitive. The amount of light we absorb can affect our hormonal balance. The mental plane is where we give birth to ideas before they become clothed with language or form.  By elevating our energies through the lower chakras to the Brow or Spiritual Eye we can be inspired by our inner light, vision and understanding.  This gives us concentration, focus and insight to be able to take command of our lives physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
‘Draw the quality of your in-dwelling spirit around you like a mantle’
The Brow is associated with the colour indigo.

All are welcome to come and join us in our celebration of the crown!
It is a perfect opportunity for those of you who have expressed an interest in learning more about meditation and who are unable to attend classes in the week to treat yourself to a liberating and stimulating day.  ‘The key within our minds we hold, to mysteries we shall unfold; Gateway to the worlds beyond, in sacred space and peace we bond.’
The crown chakra is about letting go, surrendering and finding your perfect path. The day will include meditations, breathing exercises, posture work, sounding and other treats to help you find your wholeness and facilitate a graceful acceptance of your life path.
The crown is traditionally associated with the colours violet, white and gold.
